My best, albeit often painful, times of introspection and growth have come in moments of quiet; when I had time and space to be with myself. This body of work represents a conscious effort to put that idea on canvas and to prioritize the relationship with self. The emphasis on negative space works to contain the chaotic nature of the mark making in these pieces and alludes to the element of separation that defines being alone. The varied textures, shapes, and materials are expressions of thought patterns and moments, amounting to a map of time spent with ones self.
